In the dim and distant past,
When life’s pace wasn’t quite so fast,
Grandmas used to sit and rock and knit,
And tat, crochet and sometimes even babysit.
Now the dear old soul is at the gym,
Exercising to try and keep slim,
Or out on the golf course with the in crowd,
And wearing slacks that are way too loud.
I suppose surfing is next on her plan,
For at water-skiing she has had her hand.
Mount slopes she will never master,
Her last snow trip was a fractured disaster.
She has made friends worldwide on the internet,
Some who would never guess her age, I would bet.
Says her prayers in Arabic before she goes to bed,
All sounds Greek to me, but that’s what she said.
We are all keeping any eye on her, for who knows what’s next,
She may start dating the opposite sex.
Nothing we say seems to faze or stop her,
All we know for sure is “Grandma is off her rocker.”
